After contracting Xzibit to refresh its Cosmos Centre exhibits, Murweh Regional Council selected Xzibit to create a WWII themed touchscreen and augmented reality display. Most recently, Xzibit was contracted to fit out its WWII Secret Base—a visitor centre commemorating Charleville’s WWII stories. The 1940s military experience takes visitors on an immersive journey through the war. First-person perspective is coupled with custom joinery, audiovisual content, themed props and graphics. The visitor’s ‘tour of duty’ begins with enlistment, followed by a long sea journey and then life on a base in Charleville, punctuated by bombing missions and air raids. Cutting-edge augmented reality, virtual reality and touchscreen displays activate stories; rigorous research and thoughtful interpretive strategy underpins the journey.
