CLIENT BRIEF
The client required this popular Visitor Information Centre at Cape Moreton, Moreton Island to be refurbished. The centre had been over-run by insect infestations and severely degraded by the harsh environmental conditions. Xzibit (formally Focus Productions) was awarded the entire scope of the project, which included concept design, documentation, fabrication and installation.
CREATIVITY & QUALITY OF DESIGN
Xzibit created a modern, colourful space that was as beautiful as the view. We clad the walls in natural materials, used textured graphics and 3D themed sculptures. The use of recycled timbers not only complemented the seaside ambience but also helped cut costs, as required by the limited budget. Finally, the simple, non-powered interactives and clear story-path helped create a memorable, self-guided visitor experience.
AN ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGE
Regarding quality, the Xzibit Team researched suitable materials and components to create durable displays to suit the environment. Robust graphic panels, for example, were printed on non-corrosive aluminium, while low voltage lights, solar panels, and wind-up interactives overcame the low-power solution.
