The client required a makeover for The Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium. The displays and internal fitout were virtually unchanged since it opened in 1978. Xzibit were contracted to develop a creative interpretive site-wide master plan, create workshop drawings, and fabricate, install and commission new displays, and update existing displays.
CREATIVITY & QUALITY OF DESIGN
Xzibit worked creatively with the available materials to refresh as much of the space as we could within the available budget. Design features included: refurbished showcases, programmable LED lighting, bold floor to ceiling graphics, as well as integrating storytelling elements such as ‘alien mascots’ for the 'learning is fun' audience. Giving the Planetarium a contemporary ambiance has increased its appeal to school groups and children.
